ABOUT ME
My investigation was centered around conveying human experiences and emotions through animals.Depictions of animals have been used in art throughout history. Animals served as symbols that aimed to display deeper meanings and emotions. I began to explore symbolism and habits surrounding certain animals and developed my pieces based on that information. Each work revolves around a different experience connected to an animal. I have fully revised several of my works, for example the piece “Separate” was created as a revision of a previous unfinished piece. I have also experimented greatly within my portfolio. Through different mediums ranging from spray paint, acrylic paint, oil paint, marker, to even spackle. I have learned to try new things as I worked to create pieces with deeper symbolism. This was something I struggled with before this class, now I better understand the connectivity for art and how to utilize art as a medium of expression. The piece “Jumping through Hoops” made me find my love for colorful graffiti art, and was the starting inspiration for the rest of my portfolio. This piece was created after my study of graffiti and spray paint art in Miami. I spent a week in Miami studying the art that surrounded the city's walls. While I was there, I painted with artists Pedro Amos and Ryan Wheelbarrow.
